Guide To Passive Fire

A small flame can become a major fire within 30 seconds. It will destroy a home and threaten the lives of the people inside the building

Passive Fire Protection Systems play a vital role within that building limiting the spread of smoke and fire allowing more time for occupants to escape and emergency services to get there

Our core role is to install fire stopping measures to protect escape routes against heat and smoke and prevent the building from collapsing.

What is Fire Stopping?

Fire-stopping is about sealing openings which limit the spread of fire and smoke escaping from the buildings fire-cells.

This allows more time for occupants to safely escape from a burning building, while buying more time for emergency services to get there.

Types of Fire Systems?

Fire Sleeves

Fire sleeves stop fire spreading where flammable pipes pass through walls and floors and create a gap. Fire sleeves comprise a mineral fibre and graphite intumescent material.

When it gets hot, it forms a carbon-based char around the melting pipe to provide a plug that delays the passage of smoke and fire into the next compartment.

Fire Collars

Fure collars provide fire resistance by surrounding pipes with intumescent compounds that expand when exposed to heat. This prevents smoke and fire passing into adjoining compartments.

FIre Sealants & Gap Fillers

When exposed to fire, fire sealants and gap fillers expand. This prevents fire and smoke
spreading.
